HIFU uses ultrasound technology in order to tighten the skin, smooth out wrinkles and tighten the skin. Ultrasound energy is focused on the area of concern, with the waves penetrating beneath the skin and the heat from the ultrasound energy stimulating collagen fibres. Once the cells in the area of concern have reached a certain temperature, the treatment ceases. Due to the heat exposure, these cells are effectively ‘damaged’. The resulting healing process forces the skin to produce more collagen. The result is more youthful-looking and tighter skin, making HIFU at our Mediglow clinic an excellent anti-ageing treatment.

Your clinician will begin by marking the areas to be treated and applying a clear gel before treatment commences. During treatment, ultrasound energy is projected through at a depth of 13mm to target and destroy fat cells permanently and deliver uniform, predictable results after one single treatment. HIFU ultrasound energy, penetrates through the skin layers and into the targeted fat tissue, creating a powerful thermal effect in the body which destroys fat without damaging the surrounding tissue. At the same time, high-intensity ultrasound speeds up the body’s metabolism as well as shrinks skin fibers, meaning the treatment will also work to tighten and lift the skin.
