After your consultation with Dr Jaskaren she will assess whether the gummy smile can be treated with Botulinum Toxin injections (in a small number of cases such as gingivectomy oral surgery may be required). If treatable, Dr Jaskaren injects a small amount of Botulinum Toxin both sides of the nostril to weaken the upper lip elevator muscles. This technique essentially weakens the muscle that is responsible for the elevation of the upper lip and reducing excess gum exposure.
